Tiramisu
Italian Dessert Gioco Restaurant Chicago
Tiramisu is a traditional Italian
cake made of ladyfinger cookies, or Savoiardi, dipped
in coffee, layered with a sweet marscapone cheese custard, and
flavored with liquor and cocoa. The recipe has been adapted
into many varieties of pudding, cakes and other desserts, but
the basic idea of ladyfinger cookies drowned in chocolate and
liquor remains, making tiramisu a decadent and delicious way
to end a meal.
Tiramisu translates to “pick-me-up,” which may
refer to the caffeine of the espresso and cocoa used in the
recipe. Tiramisu is a surprisingly light dessert, making it a
delicious and traditional way to end a heavy Italian feast.
The light, sweet flavors of marscapone cheese, espresso, cocoa
and ladyfinger cookies are a delectable and delicious way to
complete dinner, especially when served with Italian espresso.
